Mayor declares State of Emergency for entire city of Jackson

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Due to severe weather around Central Mississippi, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba declared a State of Emergency for the city on Thursday.

Severe weather and flooding conditions are expected to continue through Saturday, May 11 and according to the declaration, has the potential to cause personal injuries, damage to homes, businesses, public property, and threaten the safety of citizens and property of the city.

It’s ordered that all agencies and departments of the city render all possible assistance and discharge their emergency responsibilities and provide full cooperation with the declaration.
