JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - LeMarcus Jenkins, a 27-year-old black man, died Tuesday, May 7, 2019, after being stabbed in northeast Jackson, according to Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart.
Jackson Police Sgt. Roderick Holmes said it took place at approximately 5 p.m. on Windsor Drive near Clinton Circle.
Holmes said when officers arrived, they found Jenkins in the yard with a stab wound to the upper body.
Paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital where he later died.
Investigators learned that the stabbing happened during a fight between Jenkins and an unidentified man.
Witnesses told police it appeared Jenkins was trying to assault the other individual before he was injured.
Officers detained a 30-year-old man for questioning, but have not filed any charges in the case.
