Marcia Stingley, an investigator with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, says her son A.J. had surgery Friday to remove the tumor between his carotid artery.

Stingley says the procedure, which was extremely dangerous, was a complete success and the family plans to head back to Mississippi next Monday.

Stingley says doctors have told them A.J. may have changes to his voice, but there is no paralysis and they were able to remove all of the tumor.
