HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A 16-year-old Callaway High School student was taken into custody Tuesday, soon after he allegedly called in a bomb threat to Raymond High School.
Hinds County Sheriff’s officials said the initial call came in at 11:06 Tuesday morning while deputies were making their normal walk-through at the school.
The calls were made using a text application in an attempt to block the number of the cell phone being used, but investigators were able to trace the call back to an un-named student at Callaway, where he was arrested.
Additional officers were assigned to Raymond High School as a precautionary measure.
Sheriff’s Officials said this appeared to be just a random call and for no apparent reason, the teen chose Raymond High School.
According to Major Pete Luke with Hinds County, he apparently attempted to call other schools but did not get an answer.
The school did not go on lock-down and the situation was quickly resolved.
