GLUCKSTADT, Miss. (AP) - People wanting to form a new city in central Mississippi are out of luck for now.
Weeks after a chancery judge ruled that Gluckstadt could become a city, a business owner filed court papers in Madison County objecting to the incorporation.
News outlets report that Ron Hutchinson, the owner of Mississippi Tent and Party Rental, filed the papers April 18. His appeal could put the incorporation process on hold for up to two years.
Some residents of Gluckstadt have been trying for more than 10 years to turn their community into a city.
Gluckstadt is in central Madison County, north of Jackson. In German, its name means "lucky town."
