JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - They’re calling it “A Night of Unity” and organizers are expecting a capacity crowd at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial/Jackson State University Stadium Saturday night.
Unite Mississippi’s event will be a concert/crusade featuring a host of Christian entertainers including the Mississippi Mass Choir.
Sino Agueze is executive director of Unite Mississippi. He said, “It started two years ago. We had several community leaders and pastors who came together in a little cabin. We wanted to see God do something really fresh and new and out of that evolved a very powerful prayer movement and collaboration with so many other prayer movements across the state and this whole thing was born.”
Agueze continued, “We knew we had to put something together that would bring everybody together. It’s a night of unity event. We’re telling people to come out and celebrate the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and it’s open to anybody and everybody irrespective of their beliefs. Irrespective of where they come from.”
Chip Miskelly, founder and chairman of Unite Mississippi, said he expects the stadium to filled and the event will be live-streamed to other states and nations and to State and Federal Correctional Facilities in Mississippi.
Gates open at 3 p.m. Saturday with festivities beginning at 4:30 and featured guests performing at 6 p.m.
