JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Tiger Woods won his fifth Masters on Sunday and about 200 people in the Jackson area are cashing in on Tiger’s big win.
Tiger Woods shot a three-under 69 to claim his fifth green jacket, marking his first win at a major since 2008. Oddly enough, that final putt meant free clothes for a lot of people in the metro.
“We’ve always had a little promotion that goes with Tiger Woods,” Luke Abney the owner of The Rogue said. “I’m a big golfer and a lot of our customers are big golfers. We decided that if Tiger wins the Masters, then your purchase was free during the time period.”
Customers had a week leading up to the Masters to participate in the promo at The Rouge in Jackson. They received 20 percent off their purchase up front and were promised a full refund if Tiger won on Sunday.
“We’ve had great interaction with our customers who texted and called us yesterday and this morning asking when they’re getting their money back,” Abney said. “It’s a heck of a promotion. It’s been a lot of fun.”
The big question here is how can The Rogue afford to do this?
“You just hope that the insurance policy that you pay for is going to be enough," Abney said. “It was. We’ll do it again for the PGA in May and probably do it again for the U.S. Open in June.”
