Madison Superintendent not licensed at time of abrupt exit

Halliburton steps down

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - New details about the sudden departure of Madison County Superintendent Kimber Halliburton.

Wednesday, Halliburton announced she was stepping down to move back to Nashville to pursue other opportunities and spend time with family.

Kimber Halliburton hadn't been with the district a year.

Before she came to Madison, she left her old job suddenly, and now it appears she has done it again.

There's now questions about her depth of commitment to her job.

We contacted the State Department of Education and they told us Halliburton was never a licensed administrator in Mississippi which is a requirement.

Teachers and administrators from out of state can receive reciprocity but she never initiated that with the Department of Education.

Public records also show she just bought a home in Madison in the last month.

We went there and her husband told us they had no further comments.

The school board announced that Assistant Superintendent Charlotte Seals will temporarily take on her role as Superintendent.

We asked for her to comment on camera but she was unable to do so as they are preparing for testing.

We tried to contact PTO members in the district.

One told us she was devastated upon hearing the news of Halliburton’s quick departure.
