MARION COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A man was arrested by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday after officers received a call about someone driving recklessly.
The caller said the car was leaving the city limits of Columbia traveling north on Hwy 13 north running through traffic control devices at a high rate of speed.
Deputy Jeremy Sellers caught up with the car and tried to make a traffic stop. The car sped up and fled from Deputy Sellers.
A pursuit continued on Hwy 13 north traveling into Jefferson Davis County. It finally ended on 184 just off Hwy 13.
26-year-old Michael Nave Vega of New York, was charged with felony fleeing, disorderly conduct, and multiple traffic violations.
His bond was set at $11,000.
Deputy Sellers found $98,900 in cash and during the course of the investigation determined the money was used in drug activity.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is continuing the investigation and has seized the cash.
