JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Funeral arrangements have been set for Anthony Longino, the pastor shot and killed as he opened the doors to his church January 13.
Pastor Anthony Longino’s funeral will be held on Saturday, January 19, at 11:00 a.m. at North Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in New Hebron.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 18 from 6-7 p.m. at Westhaven Funeral Home on Robinson Road in Jackson.
Longino’s family says he had a passion for life and serving those in need across the state.
The family released a statement saying,
"The Longino family would like to give our sincere appreciation to JPD for working diligently to bring justice to our beloved family member & everyone who had the courage break the code of silence by providing information. Please keep us close to your hearts & in your prayers!
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Chokwe Lumumba, Chief of Police James Davis, & Detective Terrance Jackson for their exceptional job well done & relentless devotion to provide swift justice & comfort to our family!!!! Thankful to everyone for their kind words & prayers during this extremely difficult time. He lived his best life & enjoyed serving the community of Jackson as he walked by Faith! ~Angel F. Longino

Police say the 62-year-old was opening the doors to the church, when he was robbed, shot and killed, leaving his family shocked and saddened.
22-year-old Marquez Hamilton was taken into custody by Hinds-Jackson SWAT team Sunday night. He has been charged with capital murder. He also confessed that he and his friends had plans to rob him.
Pastor Longino served as head pastor of the New Bethany Missionary Baptist Church for more than 20 years.
