JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson police are investigating after two people were shot near the 1900 block of Teakwood Drive just before 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night.
Officers were called to a home for a shooting. When they arrived, they found two victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. One was laying in the driveway of the home, and the other was laying a short distance down the street. Both victims died on scene.
Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart identified the two victims as as 34-year-old Elizahown Burns and 28-year-old Kameron Cortez Virgil.
According to Chief Davis, with the Jackson Police Department, friends were gathered at the home. Witnesses inside the home told officers that the two men knew each other and had some kind of verbal fight before the shooting.
One of the men walked out of the house and the second man followed him. Minutes later, the people inside the home heard multiple gunshots.
Police are investigating as to what lead up to the argument.
According to Jackson police, based on evidence on the scene, it appears that the victims fired multiple times at each other, as one of them ran before collapsing a short distance down the road.
