The new technology will help literally spot crime either before or as it happens.

City of Jackson officials address crime after deadly weekend

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The recent shooting deaths this weekend prompted the mayor to speak out about the importance of community policing.

Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba says he is now working to bring a real time crime center to the city of Jackson.

The mayor says he is working with the police chief and other city leaders to purchase the technology that would allow them to surveil ‘criminal hotspots’ in the city.

The crime center would house monitors that are linked to cameras all over the city.

The mayor says they already have the data to let them know where the hot spots of crime are located.

Now, he says they’ve identified the technology to help literally spot crime either before or as it happens.
