FIRST ALERT DAYS: Saturday-Monday

Now that the storms have left, MUCH colder air is moving in!

After an active morning, we have had two confirmed tornadoes by the NWS out of Rankin County... one an EF0 in Florence, and the other an EF1 in Brandon.

Fortunately, no more severe weather is in the forecast for this weekend but, now that the cold front has pushed through the area, temperatures will nose dive!

Strong winds, with gusts up to 30-40MPH tonight, will usher in temperatures near 30° overnight and allow wind chills to drop into the upper teens and lower 20s. These unseasonably cold conditions will stick with us throughout the rest of our weekend and into the start of MLK day. For this reason, be sure to protect your pipes and bring in any outdoor pets overnight. Alert Days have been issued for Sunday and Monday due to the cold!

Our next chance for rain will move in for Wednesday and then we cool down even more by next weekend. We’re keeping a close eye on this forecast and will continue to fine tune it as we get closer and closer to next Saturday and Sunday.
