AR, MS ranked as worst states to retire in new study

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - If you hope to retire this year, the Mid-South may not be your best option.

According to WalletHub’s 2019 Best and Worst States to Retire report, Arkansas is the 7th worst in the nation and Mississippi is the 8th.

Both states also ranked poorly in the WalletHub ‘taxpayer' ranking, the elderly-friendly labor market and the number of health-care facilities per capita.

However, the study said Arkansas placed better than average in the percent of the population aged 65 and older. It also tied at 5th place with New Mexico for the best annual cost of in-home services.
