National Baptist Convention kicks off with presentation at New Hope Christian School in Jackson
Students with the highest test scores at New Hope Christian School are presented computers from Comcast to celebrate the National Baptist Convention.

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Thousands of delegates are expected in Mississippi beginning January 14th. They are part of the National Baptist Convention that will be held at the Jackson Convention Center.

To kick off the conference, Friday, the National President, Dr. Jerry Young, Senior Pastor at New Hope Baptist Church in Jackson, discussed changes in technology, the importance of education and the role of churches.

Ronnie Colvin, Director of External Affairs for Comcast, joined Dr. Young in presenting computers to students with the highest test scores at New Hope Christian School.

There are more than 33 thousand churches that make up the National Baptist Convention, with over 3.5 million church members.
