JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Ole Miss closer Parker Caracci and Southern Miss outfielder Matt Wallner were named preseason first team All-Americans by Perfect Game Tuesday.

Caracci enters his redshirt junior season after collecting 10 saves last year out of the Rebel bullpen. He struck out 73 batters in 48 innings pitched, with an earned run average of 2.25. The Jackson Prep graduate was named second team All-SEC following the 2018 season.

Wallner hit .351 last season for the Golden Eagles, slugging a team-high 16 home runs to go along with 67 RBI. He also earned six saves in 12 appearances on the mound for USM.

Caracci’s former Jackson Prep teammate, Jake Mangum, was named preseason third team All-America by Perfect Game. Mississippi State’s centerfielder led the SEC in hits last season (99) and doubles (22). His .356 batting average was also second best in the conference.
