JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Richard Helom Jr., a 35-year-old black man, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, after a shooting at a Jackson business, according to police.
JPD Sgt. Roderick Holmes said it happened at the Chosen Juan Hair Studio on Buchanan Street sometime before 11:30 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found Helom inside, suffering from multiple injuries. He died shortly afterward.
Investigators learned from witnesses inside the barbershop that the shooting stemmed from an argument between Helom and a second man, initially identified as “Red.”
Holmes said Red left in a dark-colored sedan believed to be a Nissan Maxima after the shooting.
On Christmas Day, 34-year-old Don Brown turned himself in to JPD officers for Helom’s murder.
