JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The Jackson Police Department is investigating two deadly shootings that happened in the Capital City overnight.

One shooting took place shortly after 5 a.m. at the Fuel Junction in the 1300 block of Woodrow Wilson Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive black female lying next to a vehicle in the parking lot. It was later determined that the victim, twenty-five-year-old Brittany Green, had been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Surveillance video captured by store cameras shows the victim’s vehicle along with a second vehicle in the gas station parking lot shortly before the shooting. It is not clear what events lead to the shooting, but it is believed that Green knew the individual(s) in the second vehicle, which appeared to be an earlier model minivan.

A motive has not been determined.

The second shooting, which also happened around 5 a.m., took place on the 500 block of Wellington Road.

Police have leaned that while two males were walking in the area, they were robbed and one victim, eighteen-year-old Deandre Moon, was shot. Moon was taken to the hospital, but would later succumb to his injuries. The other victim was not injured.

The suspects in this case were only described as two armed black males who were traveling in an unknown gray truck.

Anyone with information regarding either of these shootings is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS(8477)

Both of these investigations are ongoing.

This is a developing story.
