LORMAN, MS (WLBT) - The SWAC Champions of Alcorn State are getting ready to face North Carolina A&T in the Celebration Bowl. This is Coach Fred McNair’s second trip to the Celebration Bowl, but his first as head coach of the Braves.
“To be able to go back and play in the Celebration Bowl this year means a lot especially with these young men we have playing this game,” McNair said. “So many things they’ve overcome this whole season to get to this point.”
The Braves rank eighth in the nation among FCS teams for rushing offense by averaging 282.3 yards per game. But the Aggies rank number one in rushing defense, allowing only 72.6 yards per game and 2.4 yards per carry.
“We know that they like to stop the run. No secret there,” Alcorn quarterback Noah Johnson said. “I feel like our front five will get the job done. I don’t think a team can really stop us. We have a lot of weapons on this offense. It’s going to be a dog fight.”
The Celebration Bowl is December 15th at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
