JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - In an effort to help voters get to know Mississippi’s U.S. Senate candidates, we’re asking every candidate the same three questions ahead of the election. Chris McDaniel answered those questions Thursday.
Q: What do you think should be done at the federal level to improve healthcare and health outcomes in Mississippi?
A: We have to recognize that Obamacare is unsustainable. It just doesn’t work. The numbers that underlie the program, the assumptions, they are not sound. Obamacare needs to be repealed. The best way to make healthcare better for all Mississippians is to find ways to reduce prices for healthcare services and prices for insurance. The only way to do that is through experimentation for each state. No more one size fits all approaches from Washington. No more lobbyists dictating what we can do and how we can buy insurance. It’s time for the people in the free market to take over this arena and find good creative ways for Mississippians to manage their healthcare issues.
Q: How would you propose to improve job opportunities and the job outlook for Mississippians?
A: We all need prosperity. The only way to do that is through jobs. The best way to find jobs in the state is to remove the government from the marketplace. No more intrusions, not as much taxations, not as much regulation. Give people the ability to consume and spend based on their own needs and desires. That’s the way to prosperity. Break up old system and bring jobs to Mississippi.
Q: What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?
A: Well, I’m the only lifetime conservative in this race, The only lifetime Republican in this race and as people find out that the other opponents, my opponents in this race, that one voted for Barack Obama and one voted for Hillary Clinton, they are lifelong Democrats. They have a liberal minded policies. What’s the people find out, they come our direction. I have a record. I’m strong. And I promise you I will fight. Trump needs people to help him build that wall, to cut our taxes further, to implement term limits and to change Washington, D.C. that’s what we’re going to do.
