RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Our End Zone Game of the Week: a huge district showdown when Northwest Rankin heads to Madison Central.

The Cougars sew up the region title with a win Friday night over the Jaguars, earning a number 1 seed and a home playoff game in round one.

Madison Central also providing a test of where Northwest may stack up in the postseason.

“They’ve been right there in the North Half so many times in the past,” said Cougars head coach Toby Collums. "So if you’re going to put yourself up in that level of conversation, then you’ve got to be able to go toe-to-toe with a Madison Central.

“All the teams in our district: Madison, us, Starkville, Clinton, Warren Central, we’re all great teams, all really tough,” said senior tight end Jake Lycette. “So it would be a really, really big step for Northwest to win this district.”

WLBT Sports will be live at Madison Central Friday night at 5 and 6, then catch the highlights of our game of the week during the news at 10.
