JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - If you’ve ever been to a Madison Central game, it’s a given that you’ve seen Mary Morgan Williams doing her thing. The Madison Central junior is very passionate about her job and it’s something she’s been wanting to do for a really, really long time.
“I mean it started in kindergarten,” Williams explained. “I went to camps and one of the people that my mom worked with. Her daughter was the mascot and so I saw her and thought they were so cool and I thought, ‘I want to be that!’ So, ever since then I’ve wanted to do it.”
A dream come true for Williams and now she’s in year 4 of her mascot career. She’s learned a lot about the gig, but what’s really special is it gives her a platform to express her true personality.
“I think middle school was when I truly recognized who my identity was from the mascot and I thought that was awesome,” Williams said.
Ginger Jag takes her job seriously and makes sure to never skip a beat.
“I really try to work hard for it because I know that people are not only watching dance team and cheer, but they’re paying attention to me too,” Williams said. “I know I need to be a good influence for them so that I can really show off the spirit for the school.”
