Adams County, MS (WLBT) -The deadline to register to vote in the primary election is quickly approaching.
Students from the Natchez-Adams School District have taken to social media to encourage people to vote.
The video they created is around three minutes long.
The students talk about everyone’s right and responsibility as good citizens to let their voice be heard at the polls.
Sheriff Travis Patten is also helping lead the effort. He says the response to the video has been overwhelming.
“When you think of every movement, when you (go) back to slavery and civil rights, it was done on the backs of young people from all walks of life, so it was important to reach out to young people,” Said Sheriff Patten.
“To me it is very important to vote because as young people we are always complaining about this, this and that, said student Benyatta Reid. "Now that we are 18-years-old, we can finally voice our opinion.”
The registration deadline to vote in the November election is October 6th.
