Jackson celebrates its first parklet on PARKing Day
A parklet is taking available parking spaces and turning them into mini parks
JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The City of Jackson is joining other cities across the country Friday celebrating PARK(ing)Day.
And they’re installing the first parklet on Congress Street between Amite Street and Capitol Street. A parklet is taking available parking spaces and turning them into mini parks.
You can expect to see a fenced in area with outdoor seating, planters and bicycle stations.
The city is funding this project with $15,000 from the AARP Community Challenge Grant. You are invited to see this new addition to the downtown area for yourself and celebrate PARK(ing) Day with the city.
There will be food, music and fun until 10 pm Friday.
