JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Former Lieutenant Ricky McMillian is now top cop in Flowood, overseeing a department of 52 sworn officers.
He fills the vacancy left by former police chief Ritchie McCluskey, who retired in May. McMillian says Flowood is a big traffic town, with busy Lakeland Drive as its centerpiece, and that makes the job of a police officer there unique.

Chief McMillian is hoping to add three more officers to his ranks.
Since taking the seat on August 6, he’s been in the process of tweaking some things to make the department more efficient.
“I made a few technical changes, trying to get technology side up,” said Chief McMillan.
