Mayoral candidate meets residents at fish fry

Jackson, MS (WLBT) - A Jackson mayoral candidate hosts a free fish fry for residents near Jackson State University. State Senator John Horhn shook hands with families and talked about his interest in leading the capitol city. Saturday he treated residents to fried catfish, hamburgers and french fries on Dalton Street near the JSU Metro Parkway.  A disc jockey played music as children played in a space jump.  Horhn says Jackson needs a leader who can renovate and revitalize crumbling communities.

"We need to build bridges.  We need to form a better relationship with the legislature and state government, with federal government, with the business community and I just happen to have the skills that can do that.  Jackson needs that kind of leader right now," said Senator Horhn.

Horhn is currently serving his fifth term representing District 26 which includes Hinds and Madison counties.  The filing deadline is less than two weeks away.  The mayoral election is June 2nd.
