JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - On April 6th, Jackson Police found the body of 37-year-old Donald Norris in his West Hill Drive home. His family believes it was someone he knew.
"He was shot once in the neck three shots two hit him one hit the floor. It wasn't a forced entry it was somebody he knew he let in, so I think from the way they said it happened, happened from behind so it was somebody planning on coming by to see him," said Glen Collins, brother to the victim.
Donald Norris's oldest brother Glen says Donald hadn't been seen for several days. Investigators believe he may have been killed several days before he was discovered. Those close to Donald say he was always high spirited, had a passion for helping our indigent neighbors, and loved children.
"Thats whats so hard about this you know he wouldn't have put this kind of violence on anybody else," added Collins.
Norris's murder is the 21rst committed in Jackson this year. Detectives on the case are hoping someone in the neighborhood can provide information to lead them to the gunman, possibly someone who had visited Norris in his home before. Giving his family the answers they desperately need to help put his murder behind them.
"That means a whole lot to our family just some closure would be for my mom especially for all of us to have this case solved," Collins added.
