Metro voters head to polls early

Posted by Tom Wright - email

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - It appears the forecasts for sunny weather and high voter turnout are being met in the metro area.

At 6:56 Tuesday morning, Bob Rall on Skycopter-3 reported that voters had begun lining up at some locations, including the Willie Morris Library on Old Canton Road.  Casey Elementary School at Ridgewood.  As many as 100 people were lining up outside a church at Robinson Road and Ellis Avenue.

It seemed early on that some Mississippians wanted to cast their ballots early as possible.  A caller at 5:13 AM said 7 people had already lined up at the polling place at North Jackson Middle School.  Later reports indicate more long lines in the towns of Pearl and Madison.
