Jackson Public Schools Celebrates Test Scores

Jackson public schools are celebrating some big academic achievements. Recently released state test scores show 96 percent of Jackson schools made the progress mandated by federal law.

The district says scores are improving, even as the curriculum is getting more difficult. The district also boasts a higher attendance rate and a slight increase in ACT scores.

Several students spoke about how JPS has helped them become high achievers and offered advice to younger students.

Eddie Parker, Murrah High senior, "I can remember going through elementary and middle school and I know you face adversity, peer pressure, things of that nature. If you just stay engaged and focused you can be whatever in life you dream."

Murrah High senior Eddie Parker will attend UCLA  next fall, on a scholarship.
