Crimestoppers: Elderly Woman Robbed by Man Posing as Maintenance Man

By David Kenney

While most of us were relaxing enjoying the July 4th holiday, Jackson Police say this man was terrorizing an elderly Jackson woman.

Investigators say it started with a knock at the woman's door at the village apartments.

Jackson Police Sgt. Jeffery Scott said, "He represented to the victim that he was a maintenance person coming in to check for leaks. Once he got inside the apartment he tied the victim up and took her ATM card and demanded she give him the code to the ATM card and fortunately she sustained only minor injuries."

This surveillance video is of the robber trying to use the woman's card to get cash out of a Trustmark Bank ATM at Highland Village.

Luckily the account was closed. He didn't get anything. He did however make off with the woman's car.

The red 1998 Toyota Corolla has still not been located.

"Right now we just need the public's help this is an elderly person and elderly female so you can understand why were very adamant about why were trying to solve this case," Scott said.

The wanted man tries to shield his face from the cameras. Police say he's in his 40's or 50's, and wore a t-shirt and jeans. He could still be in the metro.

"We hope he's still around because if he's still around we're going to make some accommodations for him," Scott added.
