HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Two detention officers were arrested for supplying narcotics to inmates.

Hinds County Sheriff, Victor Mason said today, two Raymond Detention Officers were taken into custody as they reported for duty on Sunday afternoon.

Mason said, "Narcotics Investigators were tipped off that at least two detention officers were supplying inmates with narcotics and other illegal contraband while on duty." "It's difficult to understand why anyone who has taken the time to go through the vigorous training, and recklessly throw it away".

21-year-old Marcell Anderson of Madison and 26-year-old Shauntavia Lee of Clinton were arrested Sunday, and face multiple charges.

Anderson faces charges of, Possession of Controlled Substance in a Correctional Facility with Intent to Distribute (Marijuana), Possession of Controlled Substance in a Correctional Facility with Intent to Distribute (Spice), Possession of Controlled Substance in a Correctional Facility with Intent to Distribute (Meth), Possession of Controlled Substance in a Correctional Facility with Intent to Distribute (Xanax), and Possession of Contraband in Correctional Facility.

Lee was taken into custody after illegal narcotics were found inside her vehicle at the Detention Center. Investigators also learned that Lee was in a  relationship with an inmate in the detention center.

Lee is being held pending bond on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance in a Correctional Facility and Assisting in Furnishing an inmate with an Unauthorized Electrical Device, (cell phone.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
