NATCHEZ, MS (WLBT) - On Sunday, July 8, an 18-year-old was shot to death in front of an apartment complex, and police believe it was a retaliation shooting.
Martez Brown was killed around 2:30 a.m. He was standing with three other men when someone from across the street fired shots, striking Brown.
The three other people who were with him weren't hurt.
Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said they interviewed the three men standing with the victim but they didn't see the shooter.
No progress has been made in finding a suspect.
Brown was out on bond for aggravated assault in the May 2017 shooting of Kelvin Sadler. Sadler was hit by multiple bullets, but survived that shooting, only to be shot and killed in Adams County several weeks later. Chief Armstrong believes the shooting death of Brown was in retaliation for what happened to Sadler.
