JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - James Hill, a 47-year-old man, died Tuesday, June 19, after being stabbed on Jennings Street, according to Jackson police.

Sgt. Roderick Holmes said it happened shortly after 2 a.m.

When police arrived, they found Hill laying in the street with multiple stab wounds.

Holmes said 34-year-old Ellerick Darsel Wheaton has been identified as the suspect.

Investigators learned from a nearby witness that Wheaton and Hill had gotten into a fight minutes before the stabbing.

Wheaton remains at large.
