JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -

39-year-old Roger Jackson will remain in prison.

Jackson's appeal was denied by the State Supreme Court Thursday.

Jackson was sentenced to life in prison in 2017 for aggravated assault and felon in possession of a firearm.

He was convicted in the murder of 31-year-old Quincy McGowan. McGowan was one of two men shot near Roach Street in 2014. The other victim survived after being shot five times.

Jackson claimed his attorney was limited in cross examining witnesses and during closing arguments about reasonable doubt in his case.
