Wheels up for the Bulldogs on Wednesday as they make their way to the College World Series for the first time since 2013.
To make the trip even more special, Gary Henderson was named the 2018 Perfect Game / Rawlings Coach Of The Year Wednesday morning.
Henderson was named interim head coach on February 21st and has led MSU to a record of 37 - 24.
State started the season 14-15 overall, 2-7 in SEC play. Since April, MSU went 23-12, along with a 10-1 mark against top-five teams.
Looking ahead to this weekend, MSU faces a similar team in Washington.
Former MSU and MLB pitcher Jay Powell spends a lot of time talking MSU baseball as a color commentator on ESPN and also on MSU radio.
Powell thinks this could be the year the Bulldogs bring the title home.
"One thing Mississippi State has going for them is that they believe they can win and they believe they can beat anybody," Powell said. "They're playing with confidence. They're a scary group."
