Husband charged with killing wife and stepdaughter in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, MS (WLBT) -

Breaking News out of Camden on the horrific murders of a mother and her daughter. The husband and step father now charged with their deaths. We are learning more about the investigation and charges against Walter Simpson.

Walter Simpson, now charged with the murders of his wife, 45 year old Falonda Simpson and her daughter, 21 year old Davonda Washington who was home for the summer from Delta State University.  Many had speculated about Simpson's possible involvement in their deaths that left family and neighbors in shock.

"She was a pastor. Our Aunt T was a pastor."

"They were wonderful nice Christian people."

"It's like the way it happened, why did it happen that way? Why did it happen so tragic, I mean I just don't understand why."

"My Aunt T was the type of person that if you needed help or anything she was right there for you. No second words about it, she was right there. I just don't understand."

The bodies were found in the couple's home on Crown Road Tuesday night. They had been set on fire.

Simpson posted messages on Facebook, one of them giving thanks for prayer.

Simpson was arrested by Madison County Deputies according to spokesman Heath Hall , Friday. He is charged with two counts of first degree murder, one count of arson and one count of possession of a deadly weapon by a convicted felon.

Simpson is being held with no bond at the Madison County Detention Center pending an initial court appearance.

Sheriff Randy Tucker is thanking the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation , The Madison County District Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Marshal’s Service, other agencies and members of the public who provided information to help solve this case.
