A nearly six month process has ended at Jackson State. The Tigers will name their new athletic director Tuesday morning in a 11:00 am press conference.
A source close to the situation confirmed to WLBT Sports that Jackson native Ashley Robinson will be the new AD. He's served as athletic director at Prairie View for the last 5 years. During his tenure in Texas, the Panthers have built new stadiums for football, soccer, and track & field. Academics have improved at Prairie View 7 teams received a perfect APR score in 2016 (women’s bowling, women’s cross country, women’s track, women’s volleyball, women’s golf, women’s tennis, and men’s tennis).
It wouldn't be Robinson's first stop in Tiger World. He served as the assistant compliance director at JSU in 2007.
Robinson played point guard at Mississippi Valley and is the single-season & career assists leader. He was inducted into the MVSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011. Robinson served 9 months as Delta Devils AD in 2012 before going to PVAMU.
