The Jackson Public Schools free summer feeding program kicks off today.

Twelve JPS schools will be participating in this Free Feeding Program, which are welcoming students 18 years and younger to get free lunch this summer. JPS will also allow students to grab free lunch at Blackburn Middle School where lunch will be served at 11:00 a.m. through 12:30 p.m.

This government backed nutrition program provides more than two million meals to students across the state this summer.

The USDA targeted Mississippi and other states to boost the feeding program this summer.

The Summer Feeding Program will be operating at the following school sites:

  • Blackburn Middle Laboratory School
  • Clausell Elementary School
  • Galloway Elementary School
  • Hardy Middle School
  • Key Elementary School
  • Lake Elementary School
  • Lanier High School
  • McWillie Elementary School
  • North Jackson Elementary School
  • Oak Forest Elementary School
  • Powell Middle School
  • REAP, formerly Rowan Middle School
