Young M-Braves baffled by 35 year old J.D. Martin

Press Release from the Mississippi Braves

The Mississippi Braves (25-31) were defeated by the Montgomery Biscuits (27-29) 5-0 in Sunday night's series opener. Despite the loss, M-Braves third baseman, Daniel Lockhart extended his hitting streak to a season high, seven games after going 1-for-4 at the plate.

Montgomery jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning after Nathan Lukes grounded out to M-Braves second baseman, Luis Valenzuela which allowed Brandon Lowe to score.

The Biscuits extended their lead 3-0 in the top of the third inning when Lowe sent a scorching ground ball single to center field, allowing both Jermaine Palacios and Jake Cronenworth to score.

In the top of the seventh inning, Montgomery gained a 5-0 advantage after adding two more insurance runs to their lead courtesy of a Dalton Kelly sacrifice fly and a line drive RBI single from the bat of Lukes.

Montgomery starter, J.D. Martin (4-7, 4.23) earned the win and Mississippi starter, Kyle Wright (3-6, 4.37) suffered the loss.
