A 10-year-old girl who went missing for 13 hours is now safe.

It's was a quiet day in this neighborhood off of South Frontage Rd in Clinton on Sunday. A stark contrast to what it was Friday night.

"It was terrifying to know that someone in our neighborhood could just be missing,"  said Tim Peabody who lives in the neighborhood and has three small children.

Friday evening Clinton police received a report of a missing child. Police say around 7 p.m. 10 yr-old Alyese Jones ran form her house and into the woods across the street.

"We realized that it was someone we knew was missing and we thought that as a neighborhood we should help," says Brady Smith. She lives in the neighborhood and knows Jones.

It wasn't long after police arrived that this neighborhood was transformed into a command center,

"They brought everybody from Madison. Not just Clinton. Like everybody came to help for one little girl," she says.

The Hinds County Sheriffs Department, Clinton Police and the Brandon Police K9 Unit with the assistance of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation used every resource possible to find her.

"The drones were huge," she said. "I have never seen anything so big."

Helicopters flew overhead and maps were used to create a search parameter, all while neighbors searched. They were on foot, in cars, on ATVs and trucks and bikes.

After an exhausting 13-hour search, Alyese Jones was found Saturday morning in a wooded area behind her Bruenberg neighborhood. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.

Almost 100 people worked together and brought little Alyese home to her family.
