RIDGELAND, MS (WLBT) -

An 18-year-old woman collided with a car while riding her bike Friday afternoon on Lake Harbor Drive.

According to Ridgeland Police Chief, John Neal around 3:20 p.m. police and the fire department responded to Lake Harbor Drive and Northpark Drive on a reported bicycle versus truck accident.

The cyclist left the Newk’s parking lot onto northbound Northpark Drive and as she peddled toward the intersection, no brakes were working on her bike.

She hit the side of a Ford F-350 being driven eastbound toward the reservoir on Lake Harbor.

The driver of the truck was not hurt. The bicyclist was injured on her ankle and shoulder.

She was transported to UMMC with minor injuries.

According to Chief Neal, the cyclist did have a helmet on which saved her from more serious injuries.
