Trucks collide on highway 18 in Rankin County

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) -

Monday afternoon just before 5:00 p.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a two vehicle crash on MS 18 and Shell Oil Road in Rankin County.

The crash involved a Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck and a Chevrolet 2500 work truck. Preliminary reports indicate that the Chevrolet 1500 was traveling eastbound and the Chevrolet 2500 was traveling westbound. 

For an unknown reason, the vehicles collided head-on into each other. Both vehicles came to rest on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway.

Both drivers had to be extricated by rescue personnel and were both transported due to their injuries.  A passenger in one of the vehicles was transported by privately owned vehicle and his condition is unknown.

This crash is currently under investigation and more information will be released pending notification of family members.
