Greek Fest offers food, fun and excitement in Jackson

It was a celebration of all things Greek here in Jackson. Hundreds of people came from far and near to Holy Trinity - St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church for the weekend for the annual Greek Fest.

“We have people helping us from Pensacola and as far is San Diego California. They come here and help us participate and enjoy,” said Community President Constantine Zouboukos.

The three-day celebration featured vendors, live music and Greek dancers. The Greek food was a big hit, as well as the wine.

“My wife and I had gyros, which is a very nice food and we had some other meals. We had Greek beer,” said one Jackson resident.

The event also offered fun for the young people. This year, Crocodile Carson was the Kids Zone guest of honor. He didn't disappoint with his passion for all animals, especially reptiles.

Organizers say Greek Fest began back in the 1980's. They say the festival is it gives people the opportunity to learn and experience Greek culture.

“It's a great family atmosphere, but we want everyone to know we are here for Christ first. It's a Christ-centered church," said Zouboukos. "And we also want to share the Greek culture with you. We have been here for a long time, the Greek community has been here a long time. We enjoy when our friends from the community and see what we have to offer.”
