JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -

The woman found dead in a creek near the Pebble Creek Apartments in Jackson has been identified.

Hinds County Coroner identified the woman as 30-year-old Traci Clark, of Starkville.

Jackson Police say a passerby discovered the body before 7:00 a.m. near the waterline in Hanging Moss Creek, on Woodway Drive.

Sergeant Roderick Holmes says the body had visible signs of trauma.

It's unclear how long the body had been in the creek, but police estimate it has been there several hours.

The coroner says that all questions surrounding how her body ended up at that location, and what signs of trauma the body had are still under investigation.

The cause of death has not yet been determined and is pending the results of an autopsy.

Anyone with information that can help police in this investigation is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477). If your information leads to an arrest, it could be worth up to $2500.
