JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -
Two men are dead after a home went up in flames on Magnolia Road near Clinton Blvd.
According to Jackson Fire Department Chief Cleotha Sanders, firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes that the call came in. Witnesses on scene said one person was able to escape, but two people were still trapped inside.
Firefighters found both people unconscious in the home.
They were able to get the victims out, but both were pronounced dead on scene. Their bodies have been transported to the State Crime Lab for cause of death.
One firefighter was burned as a result of fire suppression and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He's expected to make a full recovery.
The fire was extinguished and ruled an accidental fire which involved unattended cooking.
