Another important step in the One Lake development project along the Pearl River near Downtown Jackson is coming together. The state House and Senate have approved legislation to allow a special board to levy special assessments to property owners who benefit from their proximity to the district and secure bonds for certain aspects of the project.
If this development comes together it will mean significant economic development, tourism growth, more entertainment options, many outdoor activities and improved quality of life. Our capital desperately needs this type of amenity. It’s the missing piece of the puzzle.
The One Lake project will positively transform Jackson and parts of Rankin County. The Governor needs to sign off on this legislation helping the project cross one more hurdle to reality.
