Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith has asked the Mississippi Supreme Court to overturn an Administrative Order from Circuit Judge Jeff Weill temporarily disqualifying him from handling cases in Weill's court.
It also barred Smith from any contact with the Grand Jury.
Weill entered the order June 23, a day after Smith was was arrested by the Attorney General's office. Smith is also asking the court to order the Hinds County Circuit Court to unseal all of the files in his case that had been previously sealed.
Smith points out in his filing that his arrest came one day before he was scheduled to present criminal cases to the Grand Jury involving the Attorney General's office regarding handling of criminal cases.
