Oktibbeha County Circuit Clerk takes leave of absence

Second-term Oktibbeha County Circuit Clerk Glenn Hamilton will take a temporary leave of absence due to health reasons. Hamilton's attorney, Rod Ray of Columbus, said Friday in a news release that his client's diabetes, coupled with recent charges of possession of methamphetamine, has led him to make the decision.
The Commercial Dispatch
reports the 60-year-old Hamilton will continue to be available to deal with matters of the clerk's office if the need arises.

Hamilton and 59-year-old Rufus Edward Lewis were arrested last month in Clay County, near the Monroe County border, on the drug charge as well as trespassing and possession of Native American artifacts.
