MDOC’s Bolivar County Community Work Center closes

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -

The Bolivar County Community Work Center (CWC) in Rosedale is now closed until further notice. The facility joins four other community work centers that were shut down because of inadequate staffing.

“Community work centers are good programs to have but proper staffing is a must to maintain security and public safety,” said MDOC Commissioner Marshall Fisher.

Fewer than 20 inmates were at the Bolivar CWC before it closed Thursday. They were moved to other locations.

In addition to Bolivar, centers in Jackson, Yazoo, Alcorn, and Jefferson counties are no longer operating.

The Mississippi Department of Corrections now has 10 community work centers across the state.
