An Independence Day murder suspect is now in police custody.

According to JPD Twitter,  31-year-old Oslee Brown turned himself in to authorities at police headquarters on Tuesday.

He has been charged with murder, as well as a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Brown was wanted for the July 4, murder that left 31-year-old Quinten Lynn dead in the 3300 block of Revels Avenue.

JPD Commander Jones said Brown shot Lynn multiple times following a fight between the two.

"Mr. Brown came to this location and he and the victim had contact with one another, not physical contact, but he apparently fired an assault rifle and struck the victim multiple times," added Jones. "Right now we don't know what the altercation was about."

Lynn's death was the 33rd homicide in Jackson so far this year.
